Internationalism

4H Finland wants to support young people’s growth into genuine internationalism. 4H offers internationalism courses, youth exchange programmes and field trips abroad. Participants have the opportunity to get to know young people from other countries at seminars, camps and difference events. Camps are organised every other year in Estonia, every year in Russia and in collaboration with other Nordic countries. In 2011, the Nordic camp took place in Denmark, where 1,250 campers convened from Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
Finnish 4H members can also participate in IFYE (International 4H Youth Exchange) and SIRYE (Short-term International 4H Youth Exchange) programmes. Likewise, international 4H members arrive from all corners of the world in Finland to learn about our culture. During their stay in Finland, the international 4H guests stay at Finnish host families and learn about 4H activities in Finland.

Finnish 4H in Namibia and Tanzania
The Finnish 4H Federation supports the development of the skills and knowledge of young people in Namibia and Tanzania through development co-operation projects. The goal is to help local 4H organisations to steer young people into an active and enterprising adulthood. The purpose of the projects is also to support the administration and finances of the local 4H organisation as well as to expand the operations into four new provinces in Namibia. The development co-operation has been ongoing for decades, and it involves tens of thousands of children and young people.
